Aubin

The Aubins rose to prominence in Noirlan society with the decline of the Martel family in the early 900s. When the tobacco trade went through a particularly hard period, failed crops, bad market prices, and family mismanagement led to the broad sale of the Marcel’s ancestral allodial lands. The rising Aubins purchased heavily and were soon thereafter elected by the Crescent Chamber to take the seat of family Martel

Baron Claude Aubin, the first household leader of house Aubin, began a lucrative logging empire and in 938 PCE founded a town called Mill Creek to be the centre of his industrial development. A silver boom soon caught on in the nearby coastal hills, which led to significant expansion of Aubin fortunes. The boom died out in the 960s, however, after the mines had been thoroughly tapped. The old caves and shafts of the Silver Hills are now occupied by a violent mob of semi-intelligent Muto barbarians called the Savage Clan.

The current master of House Aubin is a gregarious merchant baron named Lyon Aubin. The market for lumber in booming post-Union Merika has been a boon for Aubin interests and Lyon hs grown to become one of the wealthiest aristocrats in Noirlan. Unfortunately, a recent series of disappearances and bloody killings has plagued the peace of Mill Creek. To make matters worse, Lyon’s young nephew and heir, Cassander Aubin, who was investigating the Mill Creek murders, is one of the most recent victims to go missing. Lyon has kept the crimes unreported to Norland authorities thus far and is still seeking a private solution in spite of the seemingly deteriorating situation.
